Finger Prints

It is already an accepted fact that every single person in the world has a different set of fingerprints. The Chinese have devised a way to read personality & destiny traits by studying the waves and the circles that appear at the tips of everyone's fingers – indeed so convinced are they that in the old days the fingers of prospective daughters-in-law were carefully scrutinized by prominent families to ensure they did not unwittingly welcome women who had fingers that showed alternate circles and waves on their fingers, as it was commonly believed that such women would bring trouble into the family, being particularly difficult to control and usually very aggressive.

In this article, we bring you some indications of destiny & personality traits based on the circles and waves on the five fingers of each hand. Guys should examine their left hands while women should look at their right hands.

Here are the two different patterns of circles and waves seen on every finger. To make a reading, look at your thumb print first, then your index finger, your middle finger, your ring finger and then your little finger in that order. This is the sequence that offers clues to your destiny & fortunes of your life.

For ease of reference we shall refer to circles as O and to waves as W.

Fingers: OOOOO (all whorls)
Means: This person is very confident, has a strong character and a hot temper. He/she is an independent person. The luck of this person changes dramatically in life from one period to the next. The undoing of this person will be his/her hot temper so it is vital that this person must learn to be patient and calm.

Shape: WWWWW (all waves)
Means: This person is a straightforward honest person who goes with the flow. The fingers indicate someone very sensitive, who is especially suited to design and creative work. People with these fingerprint patterns tend to be shy and uncomfortable in social situations, so are not suited to work in PR, politics or any kind of work requiring them to meet people.

Shape: OWWWO
Means: If you can choose a prestigious working career, you will be very successful. However, you should avoid the tendency to get big-headed and you must never take your career for granted. You should also watch your back, as you tend to attract jealousy into your life and could get betrayed. Always look for long-term benefits.

Shape: OWWOW
Means: You will need to work harder during the early days of your career. When you reach middle and older age, you will get recognition and wealth luck. So your life gets better the older you get.

Shape: OWOWW
Means: It is vital that you resist the tendency to be narrow-minded in your attitudes and in the way you think and work. Try to be humble and learn as much as possible. This is how you will get influential help that brings you to the peak of your business and career life.

Shape: WOOOO
Means: You are a very clear-minded person. As long as you work hard, you are guaranteed to be successful. Even though you tend to be in a hurry, there will be those who help you along. You are also a person with a kind heart.

Shape: OOOOW
Means: Because you are kind and have an in-built polite attitude, you will easily get help from older persons and friends. You will enjoy great success in your working life and your only weakness is you don't trust people too easily. This can make you too conservative.

Shape: OOOWW
Means: You have a tendency to be bad tempered, and rather quick to judge. This is a shallow attitude and could easily get you onto the wrong path. If you can correct this tendency of yours, you will have great success. The potential is in you, so try to be calm in your approach.

Shape: OWWWW
Means: You have good character but can only become really successful in older age. Be prepared to have to work really hard during your younger and middle age periods, but you will become a successful person in older years.

Shape: WOWWW
Means: You are very good in the social skills. No matter what industry you are in, you like to take risk and you will always face uncertainty. Be careful as the later years of your life could bring yet more challenges. Take less risk as you get older.

Shape: WWOWW
Means: You are a person who has high vision and heavy responsibility. Be careful. Your visions could get you into serious difficulty. Better to stay more grounded, then your life will have greater success.

Shape: WWWOW
Means: You are very intelligent and will enjoy a lot of scholastic honors. You will have a smooth life and benefit from wealth luck. If you can work hard, you will become a great and successful person.

Shape: WWWWO
Means: You will inherit a business or property from your parents or from an older person. Even though you are a capable person and can be successful in your own business, your tendency towards impatience could get you into a lot of difficulty.

Shape: OOWWW
Means: You have a tendency to be proud and snobbish, although deep inside you are a kind-hearted person. Your social skills however need improving. Your relatives tend to take advantage of you.

Shape: WOWWO
Means: You are a deep thinking person. At a young age, you are already thinking of your future. You will enjoy a smooth and peaceful life; you will be very happy in your old age.

Shape: WOWOO
Means: You are a very sociable person and you enjoy the carefree kind of life going out, partying and clubbing. When you reach middle and older age, you will rely on people to support you. Be warned, if you do not prepare yourself, you might have a hard time during your older years.

Shape: WOWOW
Means: You are not an easy person to control or to convince, as you are something of a rebel. If you can stay focused on what you want from life, you will be successful. The problem is that you can be fickle and vague in what you really want from life.

Shape: WWOWO
Means: Your whole life is full of ups and downs, successes and failures. However, if you can move steadily step-by-step, you can enjoy a peaceful life as you grow into maturity.

Shape: WWOOO
Means: You are a very straightforward person. But your thinking tends to be rather naïve and shallow. Even though your suggestions are good, if you don't think through what you say, you should not be surprised if people tend to ignore your views. Your speech tends to lack power.

Shape: OOWOW
Means: You are a high-minded person, able to see and grab opportunities. You are best suited to work in the financial and investment fields. Your luck gets better as you grow older.

Shape: OOWWO
Means: You are a very honest and reputable person. You have little urge to get rich or pursue material wealth. But watch it, if you don't know how to take care of yourself, you can easily get conned and taken advantage of by people.

QUICKiES-Pranav Mistry Project

The goal of ‘Quickies’ is to bring one of the most useful inventions of the 20th century into the digital age: the ubiquitous sticky notes. Sticky (a.k.a. Post-it) notes help us manage our to-do lists, tag our objects and documents and capture short reminders or information that we may need in the near future. Keeping track of these sticky notes is a difficult task in itself. They are yet-another passive pieces of paper. ‘Quickies’ are stickies that have some intelligence and the ability to remind us about the task we ought to perform or to provide us at the right time with the information we captured in the past. ‘Quickies’ enrich the experience of using sticky notes by allowing them to be tracked and managed more effectively. The project explores how the use of RFID, Artificial Intelligence and ink recognition technologies can make it possible to create intelligent sticky notes that can be searched, can send reminders and messages, and more broadly, can help us to seamlessly connect our physical and digital worlds.

How do they work ?
Physical sticky notes are captured into a computer using a digital-pen hardware, which captures the movement of the pen on the surface of a sticky note. A software program stores the handwritten notes as images/strokes and converts the stored hand-written notes into computer-understandable text using handwriting recognition algorithms. The computer program also provides an easy to use interface to browse or search all of the user’s notes. The recognized text is processed using a commonsense knowledge engine and computational AI techniques. This process provides the note database with contextually rich information. Later, the computer program uses its understanding of the user’s intentions, content and the context of the notes to provide the user with reminders, alerts, messages and just-in-time information. The Quickies system links hand-written sticky-notes to the mobile phone, digital calendars, task-lists, e-mail and messaging clients. At the back of each of the Quickies is a unique RFID tag, which makes it possible to locate Quickies in the house or office.

What can they do ?
• Imagine you scribbled a sticky note about an upcoming meeting appointment with your work-colleague; you placed the note on your desktop. Unfortunately, you have overlooked the note, completely forgetting about the meeting and went for lunch with a friend; however you receive a reminder about your appointment with your colleague via a friendly text message on your mobile phone.

• While washing the dishes in the kitchen, the sink garbage disposal breaks down. You make a note, so that you do not forget to email your landlord about the malfunctioning garbage disposal. At the computer later in the night, you are reminded, via a friendly message, to email your landlord.

• The grocery list that you created on a paper sticky note is automatically synchronized with the task-lists in your mobile phone and computer. Now, your mobile phone has a list of the things you noted down to buy, which comes handy when you are at the grocery store.

• Your mom prefers writing on paper rather than using mobile phones and computers. She leaves a message for you on a sticky note when leaving for the market. You receive her message as an SMS or as an email.

• You use a sticky note to bookmark a section about the ‘Platypus Paradox’ in Peter Morville’s ‘Ambient Findability’ book. Several weeks later, a discussion about the ‘Platypus Paradox’ arises and you remember bookmarking Morville’s explanation. You can now use Quickies’ graphical interface to search for the keywords ‘Platypus Paradox’. As the system is keeping track of all your notes in digital form, it shows all the relevant notes you have created in past. It also helps you locate that note (and so forth the book) in your house.

By augmenting the familiar and ubiquitous physical sticky-note, ‘Quickies’ leverages existing patterns of behavior, merging paper-based sticky-note usage with a user's informational experience. It also provides an interface and enables people who are on the other side of the Digital Divide to interact with the digital information world.

Koss PortaPro 25th Anniversary Headphones

This series of headphones by Koss, known as the PortaPro is true retro at its grungy best. Reminding one of the late 80's moving into the 90's, these on ear stereophones come with punk rock written all over it — you can imagine contorted teenage faces leaning with one leg on a graffiti encroached wall wearing one of these.

This updated model has quite a striking appearance, and most of the design attributes are unconventional and old school. The black painted metallic extendable headband reminds one of the Discman days, with it's distinct ‘street’ feel. The style of this headphone is typical on ear, supra aural headphone, with a special slider switch on the earpieces which can switch from ‘firm’ to ‘light’. This switch, or lever, to be more precise, is gray in color, and though small in size, is responsible for imparting the sporty look to the unit.

Now here is the first caveat: putting the headphones on can be a little trying, or it definitely needs some getting used to. But once it’s on, there's no doubt that it feels light and comfortable. One thing's for sure, the foam on the earpieces is going to come off, and there is not a thing in the world that we can do about it. It’s replaceable, and quite inexpensive though, and every supra aural headphone in the mid level segment has this same foam, and they always tear in a year.

As for rated specifications, the frequency response is 15-25,000 Hz, Impedance is 60 ohms, Sensitivity is 101 dB SPL/1mW, Distortion <0.2%, style="font-weight: bold;">Performance
I plugged it onto a Philips GoGear Opus and took it out for a spin. My first impression was that this headphone was capable of delivering enough loudness to cut out external noise to a large extent. The sensitivity at 101 dB is on the higher side, though not the highest we’ve seen. This notwithstanding, the sound is full bodied and large.

Speaking of frequency response, the bass is very good, and is more than most full sized circumaural headphones I've heard from other Koss headphones to be honest. The bass and low mid frequencies have body, but are not boomy. There is no distortion; the loudest levels also come through very well. The only small iffy, if it has to be mentioned is a small one — basically the sound has less accuracy in its dynamic range, thus soft parts sound a little louder than they should, but this is hardly a real issue to dampen the performance. The high frequencies( treble) was also very clear and in perfect proportion to the lows, though overall it is the low bass that takes precedence in the frequency range. The sound is very slamming, a stark opposite from ‘laid back’, like some other models of Koss.
Conclusion
At Rs 4,500, there is not much to complain about these cool headphones except that they're slightly pricey. They have a clean, wide soundstage, with especially sweet treble. Bass is powerful enough to satisfy my Low Frequency urge. The Portapro is a very nice headphone and it's no wonder that it’s been around for 25 years. It's still worth a buy for constant travelers and portable media player users.

Google Cyberattack Hit Password System - NY Times

A December cyberattack on Google Inc computers hit the company's password system that millions of people worldwide use to access almost all of the company's Web services, The New York Times reported, citing a person with direct knowledge of the investigation.

The closely-guarded program is considered a crown jewel at Google, enabling users and employees to sign in with their password only once to operate various services including e-mail and business applications, the newspaper said in its April 20 edition. Google did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Code-named Gaia for the Greek goddess of the earth, and still in use under the name Single Sign-On, the program was described publicly only once at a technical conference four years ago, the newspaper said. The intruders do not appear to have stolen passwords of Gmail users, and Google quickly started to bolster security, the newspaper said. But the theft leaves open a possibility, perhaps faint, that the intruders may find weaknesses that Google might not know about, the newspaper said, citing independent computer experts. Google disclosed the hacking on Jan. 12, reporting a detection of "a highly sophisticated and targeted attack on our corporate infrastructure originating from China that resulted in the theft of intellectual property from Google." The Mountain View, California-based company said the attack appeared to target Chinese human rights activists, and that only two Gmail accounts appeared to have been accessed. Google at the time said it would stop censoring search results on Google.cn.

In March, it closed its China-based Web search service and began redirecting users to an uncensored portal in Hong Kong. That decision came amid heightened tensions between China and Washington, D.C.

Handgun USB Drive

Nothing will ever make you look quite as cool as owning a handgun flash drive. Sure, you can’t take it in most places, due to the stir it might cause. At least you’ll look tough though. With your jet black drive, I’ll bet you only store the toughest of your information on the drive. I haven’t the faintest idea what kind of information would be called tough, but I’ll bet you figure it out.

The drive itself won’t shoot anyone, but you might be able to fend off the dumbest criminals of the world. Hidden within the handle itself is where you’ll find the USB port you need. On that drive you can store up to 4GB of pictures and documents. That’ll give plenty of room, especially for the price you’ll pay. The drive will only cost you $22 through USB Geek.

Playboy Belt Buck With Built-In Spy Camera

This is isn’t the first spy camera I’ve come across that’s placed inside a belt buckle, but this is definitely the most classy way to pull it off. Nothing says elegant like a Playboy Bunny belt buckle. Then to give it a whole new level of chic, you throw in a spy camera right at waist height. With this belt you’ll be ready to go for your next night of expensive strippers and keep up your reputation as the local peeping tom.

It has a USB cable to come with it as well as a driver disk. Then within the camera itself is a time setting function, a reset button, manual video recording and acoustic control recording automatically. The video is set at 720 by 480 resolution. Then as far as memory goes it has 16GB built into the belt. In order to purchase this belt it’ll cost you $43 from Shopkami.

Robotic Skateboard

Man, I saw this guy here and said: “does this guy look cool or what?”

Yeah, I had to cover this story. I mean, it is about a robotic skateboard for crying out loud! In all honesty, I don’t know whether I would call this a robot, and I think its got a little too few wheels to be a skateboard.

I’m guessing that those two wheels are designed to be perfectly balanced, just like a Segway. In fact, the user has to lean forward to make it go forward, just like a Segway (so I’m told).

I’m not certain what that thing sticking out on the front of it. I mean, it looks like some sort of thing that was sticking out of my carry-on baggage. In other words, it looks like this guy is standing on his luggage! Still, when I step on my luggage, it doesn’t go at 6 miles per hour. I think that a real skateboard could probably go faster, and I’m not certain how safe this is, really.

You should be able to get this robotic skateboard sometime in 2013, but for a price of about $1000. Yes, that is a very expensive price for a skateboard, but this is a robotic one, kind of.
